We're Back!
We've returned from two productive days at the Ohio Employee Ownership Center conference.  Deborah Olson and several C2BE members were able to meet privately with Mikel Lezamiz of the Modragon Cooperative Corporation for several hours, where we learned a great deal about the detailed history and mechanics of the MCC.  We were also able to pick up quite a bit of information about the Evergreen Cooperative Laundry, the lynchpin of an emerging network of cooperatives in Cleveland's University Circle, and learn quite a bit about the Small Business Association's and USDA's loan programs for small businesses.  It was a great time, and we look forward to building on what we learned.

Speaker Series Update
We've firmed up more details on the upcoming Community-Based Enterprise Speaker Series recently, so we've updated the downloadable overview.

C2BE Attending OEOC Conference April 17

Speaker Series
The Center is hard at work organizing the upcoming Community-Based Enterprise Speaker Series.  Thanks to generous funding from the Skillman Foundation and LISC Detroit, the Speaker Series will be bringing examples and discussions of Community-Based Enterprise to neighborhoods throughout the city.  While planning is still in progress, session topics are expected to include establishing community-based supermarkets, small-plot urban farming, youth entrepreneurship, and applying the experiences of Spain's Mondragon Cooperative Corporation to Detroit.  If you are interested, you can download more details.
